Please note that this resource is still under construction – but feel free to use it while we are still working on it!

The idea behind Writing by Pictures is one of breaking down the process of writing an academic research essay into bite-sized chunks. And all these chunks will have a ‘visual soundbite’ attached, i.e. a short phrase that summarises one of the tips and tricks of academic research and writing to act as a visual reminder of what this is about. We will add and update these visual soundbites over the next few months. But in the meantime, maybe you will find the information itself also useful!

If there is a particular issue you would like advice about, please feel free to leave a comment here.

If you are interested in a slightly different, but also very visual, way of going through the stages of writing an essay, check out the Writing Essays by Pictures workbook project here.
